Emerging League of the International League of Conservation Photographers

I am very excited and honored to announce that I have been accepted into the Emerging League of the International League of Conservation Photographers. To be among this group of passionate, committed, world-changing conservation heroes is a career dream of mine. Also, I'm thrilled to still be "emerging," learning and enjoying life!

Big thanks to Senior Fellow Dave Showalter, a mentor, effective champion of Western issues, and inspiration to me in following this calling as a second career. And Associate Fellow Matthew Cicanese, beautiful seer of the macro world and man exploding with ideas. I thank you both for your guidance, I am immensely grateful.

I'm also grateful to Jaymi Heimbuch who has mentored me for years and whose encouraging words pick me up off the floor when I think I can't continue. She does so much for so many aspiring conservation photographers. You are amazing!

And to the wildflowers and birds and all the enchantments of nature in the Southwest and beyond, may we thrive together.

If you are interested in seeing more of my conservation work follow me at Christina M. Selby on Facebook and @christinamselbyphoto on Instagram.

Please also check out the work of my new fellow Emerging League members on Instagram @kcajack @chrriscross @marlondag @michielvannoppenphotography @fernando.faciole @rob_g_green. I’m looking forward to seeing what stories and projects come from this great group.

WHAT IS CONSERVATION PHOTOGRAPHY?

The International League of Conservation Photographers provides this description: “In a visually-based society, conservation photography and filmmaking harnesses the power of storytelling to further conservation goals. These stories shed light on environmental and cultural issues, solutions, and efforts; with the goal of making a positive change in the Anthropocene.”
